Adulteration In The Industry

What is Adulteration? “The action of making something poorer in quality by the addition of another substance.”
Companies add other ingredients and chemicals to their Elderberry ingredient to spike certain levels or increase volume. This becomes more of an unregulated cocktail than actual pure, natural Elderberry. This issue taints the elderberry industry and as more lab results come in from retail goods, it’s apparent adulteration continues to grow.

Currently USP (U.S. Pharmacopeia) has found that 14 of 25 bulk elderberry extracts were adulterated and 5 samples did not actually contain any elderberry extract.*
